Another surprisingly submission is that of Fayah, an emcee from the tropical region of Hawaii. I know the first thing you think of in Hawaii are plenty of fly Vahine’s, delicious grinds and beautiful beaches, but seriously, how many of you (our readers), ever payed much attention to the musical side of things. Of course, I am talking outside the very familiar acoustic-hawaiian rhythm’s??? Anybody?? Maybe a YouTube view here and there?
Probably a few of you, but like I recently posted, Muai Cyphers Sesh Video, I too have been a bit put off by the music coming from fellow islanders. Because I always seem to assume they are playing their Ukelele by the camp fire on the beach, feeling irie. NOT NO MORE! Fayah and his, Deep West Crew, are the ocean breeze that ALL islanders experience on a hot day on the beach. They are much needed and appreciated!
I like to showcase one of my favorite tracks, titled “On Fayah.”
Born and raised in the 808 state and having been in the Music and Entertainment business his entire life. Fayah, a fusion of Roots/Reggae and Hip hop, has provided a long deserved breath of fresh air to the music scene! Giving music lovers two sides of his element. The warm, feel good, conscious vibe and that raw edge that will burn you if you get too close. From the likes of the late great Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley and Tupac Shakur is where much of Fayah’s musical inspiration is found. Currently Fayah is completing his group album “Tha Revolution” with DDW (Deep Deep West) that will be out at the end of 2012. He has been featured on “That Factory Hustle 3 Mixtape” Hosted by Steve Sola and D.J. Gallo; which has Fayah on the cover with Gucci Mane. Fayah is currently ranked #2 for Hip hop and #3 overall for all genres on the Island of Maui. He’s also releasing his single “Fayah Burn” which is the precursor to the Fayah Burn Mixtape. He is the creator/owner of APE (Afro Poly Ethnic) gear. And one of the originators of the Deep West Movement. Keep the Fayah blazing!
