New Indie Talent: Cousin J – Grown Up
Starting off the new year, I.S.L.M. brings you more local music from Bonney Lake, WA’s, own Cousin J. If you are looking for an indie artist who write’s radio friendly style music, be sure to check him out. He has released a 7 track, [EP] titled, “Grown Up”, with beats produced by Undercaste Studios own, Teal Douville. Teal has always had a knack for pop/rnb styled production (not limited to those styles). Cousin J shows his versatility with catchy hooks and double time rap. While several guest features from Sean Carson, Trace, J Da Trackman and Lotis, assist with completion of the [EP].
By far, my favorite track is Grown Up, which features Sean Carson on the hook singing, “Now that you’re all grown up, I’ma take your pretty a** on a ride with me, we ain’t gotta make love, we ain’t gotta do that, I just want what’s in those jeans. Cause every time, I see you shawty lookin’ real bad, Every-Every time, I see you shawty lookin’ so bad, Every-Every time, I see you shawty lookin’ real bad, Every-Every time, I see you shawty lookin’ so bad.” By the end of this hook, you are captivated by the vocal arrangement. Look forward to more music, as Cousin J is about to drop the full length “Grown Up” album later this year (source via his facebook page).
Bio:
Cousin J is one of Washington’s very few unique and ambitiously active R&B/Rap/Hip Hop artists who is setting a new trend on music. Bringing excitement and laughter to his songs along with naturally given stage appearance, Cousin J is always ready for action. 13 years of experience in music, Cousin J has mastered the technique of making radio type music, literally writing lyrics in minutes, and voice recording. Although he is very talented, he is thirsty for things he has not yet discovered. Always looking for a challenge to improve himself and to succeed to the next level, in all he does, in his daily outlook on life.
Fans find that Cousin J’s music is very appealing and catchy: Cousin J says, “I try to make music that everyone can listen to and like.” When doing a live performance he sets the standards high, making such a lasting impression on the crowd and the club/bar owners, they want him back for more. He has appeared in many clubs and bars in Washington. Recently featured at the Pristine Cruise even, 1230 Room, BB Magraws, and opened for Nate Jackson’s super funny comedy show. Cousin J takes his music business very seriously. His goal is to be known and acknowledged, to reach a wider fan base and achieve great success.
